I believe in aliens. I think it would be way too selfish of us as mankind to believe we are the only lifeforms in the universe. ― Demi Lovato
Dipper Pines. The prepubescent mystery solving detective of the town known as
Gravity Falls.
Dib Membrane. The paranormal investigator from earth and sworn enemy of
Invader Zim.
When we were kids let’s be real. We all had some suspicion of the supernatural existing, whether it be through UFO sightings or the tales of Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. We all liked the idea of something strange and unseen being out there but unfortunately they were just boring ol day dreams that would never come true… Right?
Welp it’s highly incorrect in the case of these seemingly wimpy child prodigies, who have found themselves encountering supernatural threads on a daily basis, keeping up with them and trying to prove their existence through their high intellect and insane gadgetory but usually failing in doing so… One more than the other.
But this begs the question, instead of running into some alien or monster. What if these two simply ran into each other and engaged in combat? Well I’m here to answer that question by doing a theory of my own!
So to any viewers out there reading, set up your cameras to watch out for any alien cruisers flying by whatever shack your within, sit tight and let’s dive into the mystery of this matchup!
Before We Start…
Like most blogs done here we are once again composting both of these combatants with whatever media we can find and we will give them every gadget they've ever used whether crossover or not, but we are crossing the line at actually scaling them to characters they crossover with so no Owl House and Amphibia scaling for Dipper and no Spongebob or Danny Phantom scaling for Dib. We will quickly give a list of media we are giving both.

Huh. one of these guys has a bit more media than the other eh? Well let’s see how that affects our debate. Let’s Begin!
Background
Dipper Pines
Summer break; a time for leisure, recreation, and taking it easy with the worst you can worry about being a few sunburns or annoying mosquito bites… Unless you're unlucky and being chased by various strange monsters within the woods. That unlucky or one could say ‘Lucky’ someone was Mason ‘Dipper' Pines.
Born August 31st alongside his twin sister Mabel Pines, he was your average child. A little nerdy and a little wimpy but nothing much beyond that. This was until his parents decided to send him and his sister to the town of Gravity Falls, Oregon for the summer in the hopes of getting them outdoors. When they arrived they met their great uncle otherwise known as Grunkle Stanford who ran a tourist attraction which acted as his and their new home known as The Mystery Shack, with it in reality being a total scam which the town folk fell for. Dipper was very consistently put on duty of hanging up signs to promote the shack and one day while going through the woods hammering signs promoting the shack, he came across a tree with mechanical stuff within it, and after flipping the buttons the ground opened up as he found a strange book with a six fingered hand with the number three on it, otherwise known as Journal 3. This book was the journal of a resident of the town who reported various supernatural sightings across the town, and Dipper along with his sister, new found friends from the town and sometimes even his Grunkle would go on all sorts of supernatural adventures. Coming across all sorts of stuff such as Small Gnomes, the robotic Gobble Walker, The evil halloween trickster, multi bears, ghosts living within a store, real life video game characters and even a shapeshifting monster who claimed to be the author of the journals.
Through all this time Dipper did always wonder who in the world wrote these journals, which he would soon find out. As it turns out after Dipper defeated Gideon Gleeful (An insane child actor who was the rival of the mystery shack) and saved his sister from her, Stanford would find out about the books and take them away to an underground base within the shack, which held a portal which Dipper believed could destroy the whole universe if in the wrong hands. Which was not helped by them finding out about Stan’s past. Speaking of Stans past the portal worked and out came the author of the journals himself, the man with six fingers Stanford Pines. Turns out Grunkle Stan's real name was Stanley and he had been spending years trying to get his brother out of this portal, but also had to steal his identity to make money to do this… It’s a whole thing. During this time though Ford would see how much of a knack Dipper was for handling supernatural threats and eventually offered a deal for him to stay in Gravity Falls after the summer and allow Ford to mentor him. Dipper was excited by this deal but his sister Mabel actually heard… Every last bit of it and was pretty upset with the idea of her own Twin Brother leaving her alone, especially since they were going to high school soon. She ran out the shack when Dipper came home, but as he tried to follow her something even worse happened. When I listed off all those monsters there was one i forgot to mention. He’s the most horrific and evil and definitely powerful of them all, it’s the triangular dream demon himself. Bill Cipher.
Bill was able to trick Mabel into giving Bill the interdimensional rift (A Thing Dipper and Ford possessed which was all that was stopping Bill from entering the real world and taking over the universe) and it worked like a charm with him trapping Mabel within her own prison, and terrorised the town turning it into the Apocalyptic Weirdmageddon and later on even killed the intergalactic time police. But eventually Bill realised that Gravity Falls had a natural law of weirdness magnetism. Trapping him within the town and the only one who knew how to break it was Ford himself, who he kidnapped and tried to torture evidence out of. But Dipper being the hero he is wasn't gonna sit around and let this happen, he had beaten Bill before and was ready to do it again. He rounded up the townsfolk, saved Mabel and was ready to take Bill down, and they got pretty far with them turning the Mystery Shack into a gundam mech, and saved Ford as he began to explain a ritual which could kill Bill and it was going well… This was until Stan and Ford began to fight, Bill eventually caught everyone including Dipper and Mabel, who was playing eeny meeny miny moe with the siblings lives. Till Ford agreed to shake Bill's hand and let him inside his mind, but turns out during all the commotion Stan and Ford swapped clothes and Bill was now trapped in Stan's mind, as they used a memory wiping gun on Stan's mind which erased everything there, including Bill Within it. Stan had just saved the planet, maybe even the universe but he couldn't even remember doing it… Till Mablel showed him her scrapbook of all their memories during the summer and everything turned out okay!
After a few final adventures Dipper and Mabels summer was over as they went onto a nearby bus, as it drove off leading both into the future. But just because Dipper had left the town did not mean mystery solving was gone for him, he kept studying it over and over again and was ready for the next summer when he was coming out to the town. And that advice goes for any viewer here reading this. Stay curious, stay weird, stay kind and don't let anyone ever tell you you aren't smart or brave or worthy enough. Cause Dipper Pines, professional paranormal investigator of Gravity Falls did, and look where it got him.
Dib Membrane
From the very beginning life for Dib Membrane was pretty rough. While we don’t know when we do know he has always been obsessed with the paranormal and it most likely starting with him watching the tv show ‘Mysterious Mysteries Of Strange Mystery’ This has led Dib wanting to prove the supernaturals existence and become famous and respected, much like his father and self proclaimed protector of earth Professor Membrane (the goat btw)
Due to stuff such as this Dib was always viewed by his peers as kinda crazy and while they weren't… Totally wrong, he was ready for the day when he’d prove them all wrong. And that day eventually came when he went to skool and found a strange green boy sitting in his class, who claimed it was a skin condition. This was the Irken Invader known as ZIM. And Dib was not big on having an alien within his class, so he made it his life goal to try to capture and experiment on Zim. And he would try again and again and again! And considering how incompetent his rival is, shouldn't it be easy?
Well there was that one time he fought Zim with nanobots inside his own body which almost erased his brain before he was saved by his sister Gaz or how about when he found out Zim was weak to water so he created a giant water blasting gun on Zim… Before being hit by a country sized water balloon ready to nuke him, or well there was that one time he was chosen by the swollen eyeball network to show his evidence of Zim… But he had to go through an entire rigorous entrance exam which involved a fight which he lost due to the influence of Gaz, who was upset Dib had eaten the last slice of pizza, but he did end up getting his fathers signature and got on the show, till he realised he had abandoned his presentation, or when Zim travelled back in time and replaced his tricycle with a pig, leaving him scared and terrified of pigs… Uhhh WAIT WAIT, there was also that one time the Meekrob a rival alien race to the Irken species gave him superpowers, which he used to expose Zim and successfully live the life he always dreamed of, fighting ghosts and other strange monsters, even opening a school for other paranormal investigators and defending against the irken empire themselves, even fending them off successfully and is given the ‘Greatest Person To Ever Live’ Award! Yeah everyone gets one buddy- …What do you mean it’s a simulation Zim made all because he threw a muffin at him!?.... Yeah if you couldn't tell this kid quite literally NEVER wins no matter what. But hey, there was that one time he teamed up with Zim to defeat Tak (another Irken) and gained her ship! So he’s got that at least.
Eventually one day Zim had just… Disappeared as Dib sat in his room alone for years, looking at cameras for Zims eventual return, turns out Zim had just hid in a toilet stall for years cause Invader Zim is just that kinda show. During this time Dib had gotten overweight and to be blatantly honest… Pretty Gross. Which meant Zims plan had worked, Dib was now too unfit to oppose him as Zim could finally enter Phase Two of his plan. Zim contacts his leaders, the Almighty Tallest, but realises that he has forgotten what Phase Two entails. This gave Dib enough time to workout and get his body back to peak condition as his father Professor Membrane equipped Dib with a prototype device called the Membracelet, meant to harness the positive energy of the world's children. Dib was ready to finally duke it out with Zim once again till he walked into his house and found him on the floor depressed as he found out that the Irken Armada does not plan to invade Earth. Accepting his impending defeat, Zim surrenders to Dib, who decides to present him to the world during his father's Membracelet presentation. With this time being real, not simulation.
During this thought Dib allows Zim to modify the Membraclet which results in Zim hijacking the presentation and him and Gaz are trapped in their own home by Clembrane, a rubbish clone of their father as Zim uses this bracelet to combine it with the power of a mini moose and all the kids on earth holding hands to teleport the planet into the Irken flight path and force the Tallest to visit him. However, they decide to simply destroy him along with the Earth once they reach it. Which Zim ignores as he begins preparing for the Tallests' arrival, what he also ignores was a "Florpus", a rift in space-time capable of consuming the planet and merging it with alternate realities. But a true defender of earth such as Dib wasn't gonna sit around and let this happen, as he and Gaz used a Taks ship and freed Professor Membrane from intergalactic space prison Moo-Ping 10. During this The Professor still doesn't believe in the existence of aliens as Dib expresses how much he wants his father to just… Be proud of him as The Professor simply explains he is already proud of him, despite not agreeing with his belief in the supernatural. This is enough motivation for Dib to fight back against Zim for control of Minimoose to stop the Florpus and after successfully destroying Zim's robot army along with his father and getting the Minimoose, The Irken Armada finally arrives to destroy Earth just as it enters the Florpus. But as soon as that happens The Professor finally figures out how to teleport the planet back to its original location, while the ships fly directly into the Florpus. With that the earth is successfully saved despite Zim explaining how his real end goal was stealing one of their stuff.
And with that we come to the end of Dibs story at the moment, so let this be a message to any invader planning on attacking the planet earth, it’s not without its defences. While he may be horribly unlucky and a little crazy, he’s exactly what he says he is. He’s all that stands between Zim and the annihilation of our world.
Skill And Experience
Dipper Pines
To solve the mysteries of the odd anomalies of a town such as Gravity Falls, you’ve gotta be pretty smart and that Dipper is. He was a finalist in his middle school’s spelling bee and is generally just intelligent, he’s also incredible at analysing his opponents weaknesses and using them to his advantage such as melting a Wax Sherlock Holmes by luring him into the sun, or using a party popper to set off a water sprinkler to melt his paper clones, or throwing his flashlight to divert a monster chasing him, has seen through illusions, calculated the exact place a ball would land, greatly assisted in the creation of the Shacktron, convinced people several times, etc.
In terms of fighting and experience he’s surprisingly skilled, he was able to take down Gideon Gleefull’s gigantic robot with his bare hands, fought and defeated the multi-bear after a day worth of training, sword fought Wax Sherlock Holmes and has fought against various monsters with his bare hands. And in terms of experience Dippers has seen a lot from Ghosts to Monsters to goblins to shapeshifters, to fighting Bill Cipher within The Mindscape.
Dib Membrane
When battling an evil invader from another world, you’d gotta think for every contingency against him and Dib has done that plus more. Despite seeming crazy at times Dib is an incredible inventor. He’s made a food launcher in only one night, he’s repaired Tak’s ship in a short amount of time, he knows how to cooperate and manipulate people into getting what he wants, is a self proclaimed medical professional, he’s observant enough to realise Zim was utilising time travel to kill him and he seems to be so smart Tak’s mind erasing tricks don’t work on him, and in general Dib’s an overall smart kid who’s prepared for anything sent his way.
For other skills and combat record, Dib is incredibly stealthy as he’s snuck his way into Zim's house like a ninja and has broken into NASAPlace so many times the people who work there don’t even bother anymore. He’s also a skilled marksman with laser guns, and is generally pretty good at hitting his targets from far away. And for experience he’s foughten Zim time and time again, once fighting against a whole robotic army of Zim’s, or one time by using nanobots within his body, he even aided Zim in the defeat of Tak.
Equipment
Dipper Pines
Journal 3
Dippers go to item when it comes to the world of the weird and supernatural. It’s basically a giant diary full of the various things that go down in Gravity Falls, giving Dipper info on pretty much anything thrown his way. It also acts as a spell book of sorts, one spell being able to raise the dead with an army of zombies which are weak to loud noise, the other allowing Dipper into enter someone's dream and go to a place known as ‘The Mindscape’ (More on that later) and he’s mentioned the various curses it holds such as transforming people, removing their mouths and banishing them to the Netherworld. Dippers also read the various other journals which contain many other spells Dipper has not used such as possession spells, dispelling ghost spells, and a spell which can summon ghosts.
The book also has hidden messages written in invisible ink which can only be seen with a ultraviolet light. The book is later destroyed by Bill Cipher but there's no way we’re not giving Dipper it.
Flashlight
Dipper wields a basic flashlight which allows him to see in darkplaces, y’know as a flashlight should. But that’s not all as Dippers got more flashlights up his sleeve.
Height Altering Crystal Flashlight
After being made fun of for being 1 millimetre shorter than Mabel (Made fun of for your height? I can relate) He went deep into the woods and found strange crystals (sadly not an invisible wizard), and after experimenting with them found the reflective light of the crystals can alter someone's size. He quickly used a flashlight and some rope to make him be able to switch between these options whenever, the blue light can cause things to grow bigger while the pink one makes things smaller. It can also cause bugs and animals to grow to huge sizes, grow and shrink specific body parts for extra hard attacks, and reflect off mirrors.
While the flashlight was destroyed, it came back in ‘Take Back The Falls’ so it’s fine to use.
Memory Erasing Gun
Stolen from the society of the blind eye, it’s a gun which fires beams of energy which can erase the selected memories of a hitten target. Enough of the beams can even drive a person to absolute insanity, although that also means you're resistant to its effects at a certain point. The gun can also erase beings trapped inside a person's mind (or at least get rid of them), fire beams of radiation, bounce off walls, be hooked up to sound equipment to sound out amnesia inducing sound blasts, and the effects can be reversed through showing the victims old memories if the effects are early.
It’s destroyed by the end of the series as well but hush.
Magnet Gun
A magnet gun given to him by his great uncle Ford. This gun has a range of 100 ft and uses electromagnetic pulses, which will move small metal objects towards Dipper, and move Dipper towards large metal objects. It can also fire out EMP pulses that disable technology, even something as crazy as a whole space ship. Badass.
He could also potentially use it to do this sick ass slide.
Fat Laser Gun
Given to Dipper by Blendin Blandin, it’s a gun which fires a blue laser which reflects off glass surfaces. Dipper doesn't have the best aim with it though.
Mind Controlling Ties
Ties created by Ford way back as part of a government-funded assignment regarding "political persuasion." These ties allow Dipper to force the wearer to mimic his movements and words. It also puts a victim in a state of horror right after. At least it did for Soos.
Presidents Key
Given to Dipper by Quentin Trembley, it’s a key which can open any lock made in America before 1877. It can unlock even stranger things like national monuments or supernatural living doors.
Mystery Cart
An old kart which belongs to the mystery shack, it’s Dippers go to get away vehicle which is pretty fast, capable of crashing through large signs and outpacing a gnome giant made of gnomes and it was later upgraded by Soos which equipped it with ‘Nitrous Boosters’ which allow it to be extra fast and go flying off ramps. And yes, they are heavily illegal.
Battle Cuffs
In ‘Gravity Falls: Legend of the Gnome Gemulets’ Dipper gains access to battle cuffs making his fists ‘Finally Useful’ The Cuffs allow Dipper to fire out energy fists whenever he throws a punch, or he can wind his fist up like Rayman to fire an even stronger one. And if he times a punch just right, he can reflect projectiles. Which is pretty sweet.
Pinesquest Items
On one of their many adventures, Dipper and Mabel found themselves within a RPG like video game and were forced to utilise many RPG like items based on stuff in the show. These items can amplify Dipper's stats, give him more magic, heal him or just simply be a new tool to use against enemies and problems.

Time Tape
Stolen from Blendin Blandin, it’s a seemingly normal measuring tape that allows its users to travel back and forward through time and space. Dipper can use it pretty well and know how time works pretty decently. The device also can cause a user to be caught on fire but, eh.
This weapon is pretty non standard for Pine Tree but as we said in the beginning, we’re giving both pretty much whatever.
Various Misc Tools
I’m just gonna list various tools Dippers wielded through the many bits and pieces of Gravity Falls media that I didn't think were worth mentioning on their own.
Spear: Given to him by the Manotaurs's leader: Leaderaur, (Yes that’s his name) It’s a spear he used to take down the Multi Bear, it’s incredibly sharp and it also acts as a tool for strangling and pole vaulting.
Grappling Hook: Dippers got his own grappling hook much like his sister. Cause why not.
Anointed Water: Special water which can damage supernatural threats.
Morning Star: Dipper used one of these to take down the Gremloblin.
Swiss Army Knife: Equipped with a screwdriver and a pair of scissors.
Shovel: A Battering tool which he can use to send out projectiles.
Golf Club: Hole in one or smth.
Fire Iron: Acts as a makeshift sword.
Mirror Suit: If Dipper fought someone with laser guns, I guess he’d kick their ass.
Pick Up Weapons: Dipper can pick up large objects for battering tools, and small ones for projectiles.
Sousaphone: Fuck shit up Dipstick.
Dib Membrane
Glasses
Giant glasses which fit Dibs giant head like a glove. While these may seem useless their reflective nature can cause light to bounce right off them. Such as when Zim tried to erase his memories with a ray, but his glasses caused the attack to be reflected right back at Zim.
Laptop
Befitting a nerd like himself, Dib has a computer which he uses to store all his alien findings with many other uses. He can hook it up to a satellite piece to listen in on conversations all the way in other galaxies, map out wormholes, scan his DNA, translate alien languages, is equipped with a hacking probe which can be shot out of the computer and hack whatever it lands on, and many other functions we’ve yet to see.
Suitcase
A trusty case which carries around pretty much all of Dibs tech. He can also use it as a bartering tool and as a bonus, it can release a giant EMP blast disabling all tech hit by it.
Arm Mounted Food Launcher
A large food launcher Dib used in the pilot which he made in only one night. It can fire large meatballs the size of people's heads, and with one button can shoot many at blinding fast speeds. He can also type a command into it which fires out a large burrito which creates a massive boom.
Alien Sleep Cuffs
A device Dib ordered from an alien catching related site. These cuffs are guaranteed to put any alien to sleep… Dib has never tried but eh, worth a shot.
X-Scope
Ordered from the back of a magazine (delivered right to his school for some reason). Dib used this X-Ray vision scope to see into Zim’s organs and learn about his biology.
Nanoship
When Zim sent a nanobot into Dib’s body to try to destroy his mind, Dib responded by sending his own remote controlled Nanoship into his body to battle it. It has a grappling hook, boosters and can morph into a super fighting robot. Plus Dib could send it into his opponents body and mess around with theirs like Zim did here if he really wanted to.
Water Balloon Device
After learning Zim was weak to water, Dib in a matter of 2 days whipped up a device which creates giant water balloons before sending them right towards his foe.
Baloney Tac
After being the victim of its effects, he stole it and used it right back on Zim. When used on a target it slowly turns them into delicious baloney which attracts all sorts of dogs. The victim will be fine but they can be eaten due to being well… Baloney. Pretty grim fate.
Bludgeon Ball Machine
A large suit which fires out large dodgeballs at a target. Youch.
Cloaking Device
Spell Drives
As the self proclaimed largest collector of them, Dib owns many spell drives. These are computers used to cast magic spells, and while they have the potential to deal great damage… Dib only has 1 which has points, those being 2 points. The only spell Dibs is able to cast is ‘The Sense Of The Shadow Hog’, a spell which makes the victim only taste meat when they eat or drink things. Nasty.
Mech Suit
When Zim wielded a large monster santa. Dib used this to combat Zim, it’s equipped with lasers it can fire from its stomach which blow up buildings, lasers it can fire from its head, can fire various missiles and its hand can shoot out like a rocket which travels into space in mere seconds. All to fight a crazy Santa Claus? Badass.
Mawgu Weapons
When battling against various villains in the globs of doom game. Jimmy Neutron equipped the various teams with Mawgu technology related weapons. The one in the console versions is a simple water balloon launcher, while the one on the DS port fires electric blasts.
Video Game Sword
When Dib was trapped in a Minecraft inspired world he used a cool magic sword to fight off enemies. Dib asf.
Missile Launcher
Dib was gonna use this to bomb Zim's house cause he’s just that much of an opp ig.
Alien Serum
An Alien serum which turns Dib into a large hulking monster, which sadly sacrifices his intelligence for brute strength. But it’s still useful.
Muscle Suit
Fibres that make Dib incredibly strong and giant. In this state he’s also insanely powerful too, strong enough to do so many push ups he and Zim bent the fabric of space itself as they were doing infinity push-ups. This resulted in Dib and Zim creating a hole in reality itself, taking them to the outside of the Multiverse…Woah.
Taks Ship
Despite what Zim says, Dib does indeed have a spaceship. After the defeat of Zims rival Irken Tak, her ship crash landed right in Dib's back garden. This ship is insane, it can keep up with the speeds of Zims Voot Cruiser, fire lasers, create perfect holograms of himself, replicate the pilots personality turning into a large robotic Dib, and is equipped with stretchy robotic arms, Took down Zims Voot Cruiser in a few shots, It’s a giant sci-fi spaceship and sometimes that's all you need.
Various Misc Gadgets
Dib’s used lots of stuff to try to take down the evil Irken Invader. And we’ll list some right here!
Grapple Hook: Comes in the form of a rubber chicken toy.
Grapple: Dib scaled a building with it… Crazy, I know.
Permission Slip: A seemingly normal old slip, but after a name is written down on it, it creates an explosion large enough to trash a… Trash can.
Laser Pistol: Pew pew.
Anti Allergy: When Zim was attacking Dib with cats and dogs he quickly used this to remove his allergies. Making him completely immune.
Alien Disguise: He put his big head in one of his dad machines and disguised himself as an alien to trick Zim. How the tables have turned.
Water Balloon: It’s a simple water balloon, nothing crazy beyond being a minor annoyance.
Broken Light: Zap Zap.
Broom: Sweep sweep.
Clown Mask: Stupid Irken, you made me look bad!
Dib Mobile: Postal 4 reference.
Mercury: Yes the fucking planet. Dib has used it to fly and is basically a backup ship, very cool.
Abilities
Dipper Pines
High Pitched Scream
Dipper has a naturally high pitched scream. Which he will gladly showcase.
Enhanced Senses
Dippers got heightened observation skills, as a detective should. Shown when he could tell Mabel ate an entire tube of toothpaste from just the smell of her breath.
High Stamina
When he’s focused enough, Dipper can go days without sleeping. Which is pretty nuts for a scrawny 12 year old kid and not even crazy for Gravity Falls characters since McGucket could jig for 7 days straight.
Fourth Wall Awareness
In episode 1 Dipper narrates to the viewer. Nothing else to be said here.
Mindscape Powers
Calling back to what I said in the journal segment. With a certain spell Dipper can enter the mindscape, which exists within someone's mind. It acts much like Freddy Krueger's dream world with you needing to go into it through a sleeping person's body, and when in the mindscape Dipper can do many things. He can look into other peoples memories, survive with a hole in his chest, regenerate said hole, fly, shoot lasers, summon force fields, conjure up portals, summon things etc. The only real limit is Dipper's imagination, this could also mean he could utilise the same moves he used when he was trapped in Dungeons, Dungeons and more Dungeons. It should be important to note Dipper accessing this plane is no easy task as he’d need to first put his opponent to sleep, do a whole incantation and then use his powers. But they are still important to note.
Dib Membrane
Elasticity
As seen in the gif Dib can just… Stretch out his spine and presumably other bones cause Invader Zim really likes making you feel uneasy.
Regeneration
Dib is one tough kid, the kid has been put into horrific almost life changing conditions several times throughout the series and came out just fine later on. Like when he was turned into baloney but was just fine the next episode.
Fourth Wall Awareness
Dib can speak to the audience in a very well animated opening scene.
Tears
When trapped in a video game world, Dib could shoot disgusting yellow tears out his eyes similar to Isaac from the binding of isaac… Gross.
Muscle Form
If Dib works out enough he can become a giant hulking version of himself, which is super duper strong and stuff! But he thinks it looks gross so he’s probably not gonna use it too much but hey, it’s something!

Dib Membrane
Accomplishments
Created various life changing and scientific defying devices in a matter of days.
Is the son of the most intelligent (and based) man on the planet.
Has battled Zim countless times in various different scenarios.
Has broken into NASA several times.
Helped Spongebob and other Nicktoon to defeat the glob of doom.
Did so many sit ups, it warranted him to meet The Abs Of Time And Space.

Strength
Can walk around with his big ass head no problem.
Can push around a giant metal 62 pound hall pass while running around looking for Zim.
Capable of smashing apart large metal robots with his suitcase.
Should be comparable to his own father Professor Membrane who is capable of…
Vaporised robots cause he NEVER HIRED ANY OF THEM!. (2.07 Kilotons Of TNT)

Has foughten on par with Zim and GIR several times and endured pretty much all Zims tech, even owning Taks ship which is superior to Zims very own ship.
Zim himself and his tech can…
The Voot Cruiser's lasers blasted through the Planet Jacker's shell to bisect it. (8.9 Gigatons Of TNT)
Would be even stronger with his alien serum.
Speed
Chased Zim all around a city not giving up for even a second.
Comparable to Professor Membrane who can….
Comparable to Gaz who plays a guitar so fast it catches on fire. (Mach 5)
Easily avoids lightspeed lasers trying to hit him. (Pretty consistent in the world of Invader Zim)
Can fight Zim while flying around planets across the solar system. (45 - 118.91 c)
Can keep up with Zim in combat, who can pilot The Voot Cruiser, which can…
Catch up the planet jackers ship, which was flying to another solar system.
Travels from the Irken Armada to Earth, a planet far outside of the Irken's multi-planet sphere of influence, in 6 months. (5 Million - 93 Billion c)
Zim can also remotely pilot The Massive which travels to earth in a short period of time. Dib could also pilot the ship too. (5 Billion - 5 Quadrillion c)
Durability
As shown in the gif, was brutally zapped over and over and over again.
Comparable to Professor Membrane who survived a giant explosion. (1.15 Kilotons Of TNT)
Should scale to Invader Skoodge who endured being shot out of the main Irken artillery cannon into Planet Blorch as part of the Organic Sweep. (300.07 Kilotons Of TNT)
Tanked being in the centre of a giant slow motion city destroying explosion. (774.39 Kilotons Of TNT)
Should easily scale to Zim who can tank things such as…
Survived crashing into Earth from another planet. (700.5 Kilotons of TNT)
Survived crashing a space taxi cab into Earth with him in it. (8.504 Megatons of TNT)
Should obviously upscale a metal pole, which survived being hit by the orbital water balloon before it quickly blew up. (6.58 Gigatons Of TNT)
Would be even tougher with his alien serum.
Weaknesses
Dipper Pines
Dippers is one tough, smart, strong and versatile kid but at the end of the day he’s still got plenty of flaws. For one when Dipper is against something supernatural he will almost always go to the journal for answers and when the book has nothing on it, he views his current situation as hopeless. And while his tech and gadgets are impressive they’ve been taken away from him and used against him before, such as his height altering flashlight, certain spells in the journal like the zombie spell might seem useful but in reality, said zombies do not listen to him and will eat his brains too. Plus despite his bravery at times there still have been a number of times where Dippers ran from a fight if he thinks/knows he cannot win it.
Dib Membrane
While Dib is one of the most determined characters I've ever covered, he's not without his faults. While his motivation is great for a fight it can backfire on him as well, such as the time he sat alone in a room waiting for Zim to come out of hiding only for it to take so long, Dib got fat and to unhealthy to fight Zim which is pretty shitty luck, which if you’ve watched any episode of this show you’d know that Dib has some of the worst luck ever. Like the time he went through a long rigorous adventure trying to get a slip from his father to show evidence of Zim being an alien on TV, only for him to have dropped his case full of evidence on the way there. Also befitting of the world he lives in, Dib’s mentality is… Questionable at times and at times can go into a lunatic like state, making it easy for his opponent to outsmart him.
Before The Verdict…
Town - Continental Gravity Falls?
If you've ever debated the stats of Gravity Falls humans for some reason you probably know of their big feats, which are both questionable and I'm here to give my stance on them. First is a feat performed in the season 1 finale ‘Gideon Rises’ Gideon Gleeful survives being inside his large Gideon bot as it fell off a large bridge and plummeted to the ground which created a giant explosion which could be seen from miles away, it was calculated at about 32.38 Kilotons Of TNT, And Dipper is easily stronger than Gideon shown in their fight so what's the issues here?
The two i’ve seen are ‘Gideon was inside the Gideon Bot which protected him from the actual blast’ Which sure you could argue it was the reason for Gideon surviving, but it cannot be accounted for his full on survivability, as the Mech had an entire hole in it’s eye meaning the explosion could’ve very well hit Gideon during the big boom so yeah, not the greatest argument. And two ‘The calc uses a vaporisation method which means it shouldn’t be used’ Which sure while you could say this makes the feat a little less strong.. It was still a big boom seen from miles and miles away, and considering how consistent MCB Gravity Falls is plus Dippers stat boosting items you could argue he’d still be town either way, plus in the take back the falls flash game Dipper can harm characters such as Pyronica, who burned down her entire home city. So town - City Gravity Falls is okay in my eyes.
The other big feat comes from ‘Gravity Falls; Don't Colour This Book! It's Cursed!’ Where Dipper tanked the entire explosion in the ink world, which was actually taking colours away from ‘The World’ meaning Dipper tanked all of earth's ink hitting him dead on which was calculated at 1.087 Petatons Of TNT, the feat appears to be fine but there is one… Pretty big problem, starting with an O.
You guessed it; Outlier. Unfortunately the jump in gap between The Gideon bot explosion and the ink explosion is way too high to justify this being viable even if Dipper used stat boosting items, it’s hard to justify him getting this high without it seeming just… Really Dodgy. Although we will use it as a high high end for Dipper (also Koolguy if you're reading this love your work keep it up!)
So yeah in my eyes Town - City Gravity Falls is cool, but i do not buy cont.
Cosmic Invader Zim Feats?
Through the many Invader Zim comics there's various cosmic level feats performed which you may have seen i left out, why's that? You may be asking well, I'll answer each one in my own order.
Zim Spins The Planet Around
Something I love about this feat is the cropping feels like some kind of gag Zim would do in an episode, where he’d lie about how strong he is and not show context. Also yeah if you can’t see this feat is just happening in Zims imagination and the feat is dismissed by none other than Dib himself, so yeah not viable at all.
Zim and Dib Survive The Force Of Being Kicked Into The Sun
This feat seems fine at a first glance till you kinda just… Read the final panel. The two barley even recall this adventure, there's also 0 evidence they even survived and it’s very likely an outside force brought them back to life considering how the earth is… Fine and all. The earth coming back out of nowhere also makes the feat really vague making it even harder to justify so yeah. I and the team do not buy it.
Zim Makes Toy Beavers Which Create A Planet Sized Boom
This feat seems pretty great but… Dib nor anyone in the comic really tank the big booms and it’d only really scale to equipment and such. Plus later on all of the beavers end up exploding, and the explosion is significantly smaller than what we see before, only creating a small crater. So you can argue the explosion in the panel is just an exaggeration. Good high end for Zim’s equipment though.
Zim Blows Up An Entire Planet With A Big Ol Bomb
Once again while it’s fine to argue for Zims tech, no one actually scales to this as no one actually ends up tanking the bomb. Plus in this comic, Zim arrived on this planet after gathering a large amount of super weapons from Blastropolis, and the bomb he used destroyed all of them that he left behind. So scaling it to Zims tech is a little questionable too
Zim and Dib Workout REALLY hard
You may have saw this in arsenal but pretty much Zim and Dib do infinity sit ups that bend all of time and space sending them outside the infinite universes and meet ‘The Abs Of Space And Time’ While the obvious argument against this feat is that it’s a clear outlier there's another one, but they only achieved this state over a large portion of time through these suits and these suits alone, so to even become this level Dib would need to put on an entire suit and do a punch of sit ups mid fight. Which isn't the most reliable win con in the world.
Zib And His Lab Survive The Destruction Of His Universe
This feat seemingly backs up Universeal Invader Zim but not only is it’s previous universal feat only pulled off through equipment but this feat is simply just… Way too vague and we have 0 idea how he actually survived. Hell it could just be due to his lab having some special force field and such. So no i don't’ actually buy it
What does not help with most of the comic feats is that they all take place in a separate universe from the main universe that the show takes place in. We still use them but that’s just another argument against it even if you do buy EVERYTHING mentioned here.
Verdict
(Two Songs I’d Listen To While Reading)
Stats
While these two are portrayed as wimps with the strength and durability of paper in their shows, they’re actually far stronger than you’d think so let’s start with strength and durability for both. Dipper at a low end is pretty casually wall to large building as he can bust down metal doors, make large holes in the ground and survive large explosions worth 7 Tons of TNT, He can tanks hit’s from the island monster which would be hitting with a force of 236 Tons Of TNT and also harm characters like Dark Jeff who can create fog powerful enough to be worth about 700 Tons of TNT, putting Dippers low end at easily MCB, and he’d be even stronger with various stat amplification tools. But if we dived into mid ends Dipper was easily a lot stronger, he could easily beat up Gideon Gleeful who survived being in the centre of an explosion worth 32.38 Kilotons Of TNT meaning he’d easily upscale it, and using his high ends Dipper could harm clones of Pyronica who burned down their home city, while we don't know how big the city is at worst this feat would be on the low end of city level which is 6.3 Megatons Of TNT and And if we were really nice to Pine Tree, he could survive the force of all earth's colours blowing up in his face which would be 1.087 Petatons Of TNT and mind you, no matter what end you buy Dipper could always be even stronger than it by using his various stat amplifying weapons from Pinesquest.
For Dibs low ends this kid was an absolute tank, He could scale to his own father who demolished an army of robots which would be worth 2.07 Kilotons Of TNT, he also created a giant crater after falling from space which would be worth 32.13 Kilotons Of TNT, Dib could also consistently survive falling from reentry and survive many nasty explosions. For Mid ends Dib could scale to other Invaders who were able to survive being sent flying into other planets which would require a force of 300 Kilotons of TNT and Dib himself can survive slow motion explosions worth over 774 Kilotons, backed up by him and Zim surviving crashing into earth which would be 700 Kilotons of TNT. And for his highest ends he once again can scale to the Voot Cruiser, as he’s fought it several times before and even tanked hit’s from his own ship which is superior to Zims, and The Voot Cruiser's lasers blasted through the Planet Jacker's shell to bisect it. Which would be worth 8.9 Gigatons Of TNT, Dib could also scale to Zim who Survived crashing a space taxi cab into Earth with him in it which was calced at about 8.504 Megatons of TNT, and to further back this up he should upscale a metal pole, which survived being hit by Zims orbital water balloon before it quickly blew up which was worth over 6.58 Gigatons Of TNT further backing up Island level Dib.
So reading this, Dib is over 46 Times stronger and more durable than Dipper on a low end , is 23 times stronger and more durable on a mid end, and on a high end is 1,044 times more powerful than Dipper. Although if you include Dipper's ink explosion he’s 172,619,048 times stronger than Dib. But considering that feat’s an outlier it’s safe to say Dibs stronger and more durable.
Speed however was an entirely different story, while Dipper can move in tandem with and avoid lasers which would require speed worth 1.43 Times The Speed Of Light, and be even faster with smile dip and speed amplifications in Pinesquest, feats like those are a dime a dozen in the world of Invader Zim. Dib and other characters in the cast can easily avoid lightspeed lasers, no tandem movement needed and he even once fought Zim while piloting Mercury which would be 118.91 Times The Speed of Light. Making Dib over 117.48 times faster than Dipper, and this isn't even accounting for Zim scaling who can travel from the Irken Armada to Earth, a planet far outside of the Irken's multi-planet sphere of influence, in 6 months. Which wat worst is 5 Million Times The Speed Of Light and at best 93 Billion Times The Speed Of Light, or how about the time he and Zim remotely piloted The Massive and travelled to earth in a short period of time, which would require speeds worth 5 Billion Times The Speed Of Light at a low end and 5 Quadrillion Times The Speed Of Light on a high end. With The Massive feat, Dib would be over 4,999,999,998.57 times faster. So yeah Dippers kinda cooked in terms of speed no matter what.
Equipment And Abilities
These paranormal investigators had many many sci fi related gadgets which could do many things, But even just skimming over the equipment section it was easy to tell who took it.
Even just in terms of versatility Dib has many more weapons over Dipper, his even being a lot more focused on combat while Dippers were more haxey and lacked many destructive combat weapons beyond ones that would be destroyed instantly. Dipper has spears, swords and shovels but those all pale in comparison to Dibs video game sword which could easily break through Dippers mostly improvised melee options, Dipper has a laser gun which he doesn't have great aim with, Dib has several laser guns, electricity guns and water balloon cannons which he had great aim with while Dippers only option from a far which he was good with was his battle cuffs which were also easily countered by Dibs energy weapons, Dipper has a grappling hook, Dib had both a easier to access one and a grapple to climb up walls with, Dippers mystery cart was easily countered by Dibs Dibmobile and even Taks ship, but Taks Ship is just being mean.
But when it came to how their arsenals would affect the others and themselves Dib took this one easily as well, for every great hax Dipper has it’s either not reliable or Dib resists/Counters it. We’ll go in order from what Dib counters of Dippers to what Dipper counters from Dib. While summoning Zombies and Ghosts sounds great it would most likely only make the situation worse for Dipper as they don’t fight for him and will turn against him instantly, and considering how they were taken out by Grunkle Stan, Dib could most likely do the same. Dipper had a memory erasing gun which would’ve done the trick on pretty much any opponent, unluckily for him though not only was Dib fast enough to avoid the beams but his giant glasses could reflect them right back at Dipper, meaning he would be the one losing his memories. While Dipper's magnet gun could take away most of Dibs weapons due to their EMP blasts, which even took down a giant spaceship meaning it had the potential to take away Taks ship. Dib could do the exact same with his computer or his suitcase which could turn into a giant EMP device, meaning Dib had 2 ways of shutting down Dipper's tech while Dipper only had 1 which could easily be taken away and disarmed from him. While Dipper had various healing items to replenish health, the first few hits from Dib would probably mean he wouldn't even be in any condition to be able to use them, assuming Dib doesn't just blitz and AP stomp Dipper as soon as the fight starts. Dipper had a mind control tie but he’d need to get up close and put it on Dib for it to work, which is not something he wants to do considering the stat gap And Dipper's Time Tape actually seemed perfect on paper, as Dib almost died to time travel once. But if you watch the episode you’d know Zims time tech and Blendin's time tech were very different, Zims tech was through a portal which would spawn random things in Dibs way while Dippers was used to teleport himself to a different period of time. But even if he could it was shown if Dib figured out Zim was using time travel to kill him it so he’d most likely figure it out and stop Dipper from doing to much damage, and in the same episode it shows when Dib was dying due to time shenanigans, Professor Membrane will come in and save the day by putting him in a giant robot suit. Meaning yes Professor Membrane is a win con for Dib (this is arguably outside help but it’s really funny)
When it came to what Dipper could counter from Dib. Dipper's enhanced senses and Pinesquest sodas actually meant he could sense Dib out and use the soda to soak his suit and remove its invisibility. And his size altering crystal meant he could shrink some of Dibs mechs or Taks ship while he’s inside which would crush him (Pretty dark for a kids show but hey! It’s Invader Zim and Gravity Falls!) or use it on himself to match the size of one of Dibs mechs. That’s it really for Dippers counters and while Dib had all the counters he had for Dippers gadgets and their effects, Dipper lacked vice versa. Dib could put a nanoship in his body and destroy his brain from the inside, poke him with a tak and turn Dipper into Baloney and be eaten up, drown him with his water cannons, stomp on him with his mechs, or if he really wanted to, could ram into Dipper with either Taks ship or the entire planet of fucking Mercury and obliterate Dipper through sheer speed and force.
One final thing. While Dipper's mindscape abilities are incredible and could potentially lead to a win, not only would this mean Dib would also be in the mindscape and have all of Dipper's powers, but to do this Dipper would need to knock Dib out and perform a long chant on him. Something he’s not going to be able to do mid fight, and he’s certainly not knocking Dib out due to the stats.
So yeah, Pines is less versatile, his arsenal packs less of a punch and he lacks many counters to Membranes while Membrane has thousands of gadgets to keep Dipper on his toes and resisted almost all of his haxes.
Territory Facts
In terms of intelligence, experience, while both are pretty smart they took their own categories but in the end Dipper's smarts were more useful in combat. While Dib has insane stealth we already explained how Dipper's senses countered it, but his observation and strategy of taking advantage of his opponents weaknesses were a lot more useful than Dibs' invention skills.
In terms of combat Dipper also took this, his sword fights with Sherlock, fist fights with Gideon and The Multi Bear, and other grand scale fights were a lot better than Dibs fights with Zim, which were usually inside ships or were mind games or pathetic slap fights.
In terms of experience this was the one advantage Dipper took pretty easily, while Dib has fought Zim in a variety of situations, there's one problem with that. He’s always fighting Zim. He’s always fighting a foe who’s an incredibly incompetent ego filled psycho while Dippers not only has been up against more menacing foes but smarter ones, i mean one’s worked his way around Bill Cipher while the other struggles against Invader Zim's brains.
Dipper also had superior stamina, while Dibs worked all night. Dipper being sleep deprived is apparently a common thing that happens, even older people in Gravity Falls like McGucket can dance for a whole week straight, meaning if one were to tire out first it would be Dib.
And in terms of weaknesses Dibs were a lot worse than Dippers, Dipper has his fair share of weaknesses the big one being his items being easy to take away from him, but Dib’s horrific bad luck and just… Insanity was a lot more damning than Pines. Sadly While Dipper did take this round it was not enough to secure a win.
Overall
Dipper Pines
Advantages:
Stronger and More Durable if we give him the benefit of the doubt…
Enhanced Senses countered Dibs stealth.
Magnet Gun could shut down most of Dibs tech…
The Mindscape could potentially lead to a win…
Was far smarter, a much better fighter and in general was more mentally stable.
Had more melee options and was a better hand to hand fighter.
Far greater stamina.
IS LITERALLY ME!
Gravity Falls is peak y'all should watch it
Disadvantages:
…But said feat is really dubious and an outlier.
Was weaker on any other and more reliable ends.
…But it could be taken away from him and Dib had better hacking options.
…But it was unreliable and took way too much time to set up.
Far far FAR Slower no matter what speed end you buy.
Lacked many ranged options he was good with.
Had a less destructive and smaller arsenal.
Anything he could throw at Dib was countered or Dib could resist it.
Could be easily disarmed of his tech, forcing him to fight up close with Dib which is a bad idea considering the stat gap.
Dib Membrane
Advantages:
Is Stronger and More Durable on every end if you don't use outliers.
So much faster no matter what you buy to the point it’s just mean.
Had a counter for almost everything Dipper sent his way.
Was equipped with more ranged options.
His gadgets were more versatile and destructive.
Could transmutate Dipper with the Baloney Tac.
Resisted almost all of Dipper's options.
His ship offered superior mobility and control over the battlefield.
Looks like the Postal Dude
Invader Zim is peak y'all should watch it.
Disadvantages:
Weaker if you’re really nice to Dipper.
Stealth was countered by Dipper's senses.
His tech could be shut down or taken away by Dippers Magnet gun.
Horrible hand to hand fighter.
Had way less stamina for long periods of time.
Horribly Unlucky which could potentially bite him in the ass during the fight.
Crazy. Really Crazy.
We never got Invader Zim Season 3.
Yelling at a kid about how his skin is different is NOT a good look.
Ultimately this fight's victor was pretty easy to decide, which kinda sucks considering i love both a lot. While Dipper's superior stamina, senses, skills, mentality and his various gadgets would keep Dib on his toes. Everything he did to try Invade Dib’s victory would just Irk Him off and would result in Membrane using his superior strength, pain tolerance, far greater speed, his many destructive gadgets, and his superior versatility and control of the battlefield to cause this Pine Tree to Fall. No Mystery about that.
The Winner Is Dib Membrane.
Final Tally
Team Dipper (3) - Alargesquid, DoRitto, The Cereal. (Pity Votes)
Team Dib (6) - Fiction, Spycrab, Iceking, Smaggle, Rei, Zadtoon.
